FAQ
What does a consulting/coaching session look like?
We will meet via Google Meets at a time that is convenient for the parents to discuss specific speech-language skills. I will take time to explain and demonstrate how to address each skill during various activities and with specific toys (games, play activity, daily activity, etc.). During our session, I may observe the parent interacting with their child or review previously recorded videos to offer feedback and further suggestions.
Do I need to pay in advance?
Payment will be taken at the time of service
Do you offer any packages?
Packages are tailored to each client, so please inquire!
What happens if I miss my scheduled session?
A no-show fee will be charged unless I have received a cancellation request at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
What types of materials might I want to have during consultation/coaching sessions?
I will email you ahead of time to let you know what you might need for each session. We will use books, toys, games that you might have on hand.
Will my child need to be present during the sessions?
No he/she will not have to be present. If he/she is present and you are able to attend to the session information with him/her present that is allowed. If it is too distracting to have your child present, outside of feedback sessions, you may want to schedule during nap time or another convenient time when your child does not have to be present.
Is parent coaching direct speech/language therapy?
No. This is not a substitute for direct therapy. If your child requires direct individual therapy in order to improve his/her skills, I will recommend you begin with speech therapy where our therapist will work directly with your child.
Why choose the consultative/coaching approach?
You know your child the best! Let me know your concerns, describe your child and his/her speech/language skills to me, and I will start guiding you right away on how to promote and improve your child's skills. My goal will be to provide you with at least one productive suggestion to use with your child right away. Instead of only getting a brief written note from a therapist or a 5-minute talk at the end of a session, you will have my full attention and I will equip you to elicit improved speech/language skills on a daily basis.
Do you offer direct speech therapy services for children?
Yes! Hand in Hand has experienced speech therapists who provide direct speech therapy services for toddlers and children up to 17 years old. Our NC-licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists offer evaluations and private therapy services at your home, child's preschool, or in our office.
